Here at Pocket Leopards Bengals we feed our cats what nature designed them to eat. The diet of our cats mostly consists of raw meat (muscle meat, bones, heart and liver. We make our own food, usually out of chicken thighs with bones ground in and added heart (usually beef or chicken heart) and liver (beef or chicken).

If we are able to obtain a supply, at times we also feed them partially developed chicks, quail, or commercially raised mice.

On this diet, the cats are able to digest it so well that they need to eat numerous times a day, like they would do in the wild.

We realize that not everyone will agree on this diet and some people agree with it, but it is impossible for them to be able to feed this kind of diet. Therefore we do feed our cats and kittens a small amount of dry so that they will accept dry if they end up going to a new home where only dry is fed. The bulk of the diet of our kittens and mother cats though is raw meat, and they much prefer to eat raw meat. They normally leave the dry sitting in the bowel unless the meat breakfast or dinner is late.

The raw meat diet has many advantages. The best advantage to this diet is the overall health of the cat. Cats seem to be so much healthier eating what what nature designed them to eat. Other advantages are; little to no litterbox oder, soft and shiny coat, and healthy teeth/gums.

I am providing a link to a recipe of the homemade diet that I use, but if you don't want to make your own, you can buy it premade at Oma's Pride.
