We price our kittens according to quality. This means that sometimes we have to put them on evaluation for several weeks to see how they will develop. Although generally we can estimate how a kitten will turn out when it's born, sometimes a kitten develops better quality or lower quality than expected. Because of this, sometimes we will raise or lower prices as they grow. However, once a kitten is reserved with a deposit, we will not raise the price.
Remember that you usually get what you pay for! True, there are bengals being sold in other places that are much cheaper, however they are not the same quality as you see in tv and magazine ads or at cat shows. They lack the coat quality (clarity/contrast) and "type" (type refers to how closely the kitten fits the bengal standard. The more they look like an asian leopard cat, the better they fit the breed standard). You also generally will not get a health guarantee or a well socialized kitten when you buy low priced/low quality kittens from less than reputible breeders.
A reminder is that bengals usually go through a very bad "fuzzy ugly" stage beginning at about 5 weeks old and lasting till they are 16 weeks then they start to clear up and usually become clear at about 6-8 months old. At that time they may lack the desired coat quality that most people are looking for. It is best to ask the breeder for pictures of the kitten before they reach 5 weeks of age in order to determine coat quality.
Marble kittens also are usually born almost black or solid color and open slowly for at least an entire year. So it is hard to determine how a marble will look. Usually you can see areas on the sides where the fur is thinning and those areas will open up into color. Tri-colored marbles usually have the best color and the most rosetting.
